Project Moonshot is specifically designed to help companies that deliver web services, social media, and simple content, more efficient applications as well as energy and cost savings that were simply not possible in the past.
At HP, we understand the challenges that your business is facing. You're looking to make large gains in data center efficiencies. The pressure to radically reduce the space, energy consumption and cost of your data center infrastructure is unrelenting. And, you need to stay ahead of your competition.
With HP's ProLiant server leadership and innovation already helping customers achieve new heights of data center efficiency, the HP Data Center Smart Grid, and the world's most efficient data center, the HP EcoPOD –you can be sure we are we are as committed to your success as you are.
Project Moonshot paves the way to the future of extreme low-energy server technology to help you achieve energy, power and space savings you never imagined. We are already working with industry leaders through the HP Pathfinder Program. As well, the Houston based HP Discovery Lab will be open in early 2012, to help determine the suitability of applications for new low-energy server technology.
Based on extreme low-energy server technology, the Project Moonshot infrastructure can enable you to share storage, networking, management, as well as power and cooling across thousands of servers. Unlike traditional infrastructure designs, Project Moonshot is designed to unlock the promise of extreme low-energy server technology by pooling resources in a highly-federated environment. The Redstone Server Development Platform (available in the first half of 2012) incorporates more than 2,800 servers in a single rack - reducing cabling, switching and use of peripheral devices to reduce complexity by up to 97 percent. And, the energy, space and cost savings* are also expected to reach new heights with up to:
* Based on weighted average performance projections for workloads such as web serving, memcached, and Data Analytics. Cost estimates include infrastructure, space, and power and cooling costs over three years.

HP Project Moonshot Press Conference
HP is bringing together customers, industry experts and leading IT companies to help unleash the promise of extreme low-energy server technology.
If you're a customer who wants to evaluate your applications for this new technology — or a software, compute, storage or networking solution delivery company interested in joining other industry leaders in helping advance extreme low-energy server technology — you've come to the right place. Here you will find some resources to find out more about Project Moonshot and how you can participate.

HP Pathfinder Program, part of the HP AllianceONE program, is an ecosystem of industry leaders dedicated to discovery efforts across the data center. As a member of the HP Pathfinder Program, ISVs, compute, storage and networking companies can experiment, test and benchmark their applications.
HP Discovery LabHP Discovery Lab enables customers to experiment, test and benchmark applications on the Redstone Server Development Platform, other extreme low-energy platforms, as well as traditional servers. With remote or on site access, customers can work directly with HP engineers and industry peers to learn about the benefits of extreme low-energy servers for their specific application needs. The Discovery Lab will open in Houston in early 2012.
We're bringing together an ecosystem of industry leaders including ISVs, compute, storage and networking partners who are dedicated to working together to develop, deliver, standardize and deploy extreme low-energy server solutions.

"AMD and HP have worked together for several years to bring innovative low-power server solutions to market. As we roll out our next-generations of low-power AMD Opteron processors, we look forward to working with HP and the Pathfinder Program to further advance efforts around energy-efficient server architectures that sip power while continuing to meet the rapidly demanding performance scale require by the Cloud."
Mark Papermaster, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, AMD
"ARM believes that the development of optimized, scale-out computing systems requires a new approach for both hardware and software. We commend HP's innovation in this space and the investment being made to accelerate the development of a new class of compelling, energy-efficient servers, and believe that ARM low-power technology and broad partner ecosystem will provide the ideal foundation for HP to drive a new wave of innovation in the server market."
Lance Howarth, EVP of Marketing, ARM
"The fundamental constraint in the world of massively parallel approaches to data management and analytics is power. Today marks the beginning of a new way of thinking about what is possible in data and analytics. What is happening here at Calxeda, is the beginning of that revolution in the datacenter."
Barry Evans, CEO and Co-founder, Calxeda
"Canonical is looking forward to opportunities to work with HP through the HP Pathfinder Program. Ubuntu is at the forefront of hyperscale workloads, like cloud and big data, that deliver on the promise of low power processor technology in the data center. We welcome the opportunity to help HP's customers discover the benefits of this new paradigm in server and cloud computing."
Chris Kenyon, VP of Business Development, Canonical
"Red Hat and HP have a strong, long-standing relationship of technology collaboration for their mutual customers and looks forward to actively participating in the HP Pathfinder Program to help develop and advance extremely efficient hardware and software solutions for scale-out systems."
Jared Smith, leader, The Fedora Project, a Red Hat-sponsored community project
