HP Delivers Comprehensive Management and Protection for VMware Cloud Infrastructure Suite

Cloud computing has fundamentally changed how applications are deployed, administered and consumed. In cloud environments, workloads are frequently moved as organizations dynamically assign shared resources where they are needed. Enterprises face significant challenges ensuring consistent quality of service, security procedures and network availability as these shared resources are moved or updated.

HP has simplified management and strengthened security for virtualized environments through the integration of HP Intelligent Management Center (IMC) 5.0 with VMware vSphere® and HP TippingPoint vController with VMware vShield.

Bridging the management gap between physical and virtual
HP Intelligent Management Center (IMC) is the industry's first single tool for integrated network management across virtual and physical environments including traffic between virtual machines (VMs). Leveraging the Netflow integration in the new VMware vSphere 5, HP IMC will provide customers with more granular visibility and control over VM traffic to accelerate application service delivery, simplify operations and boost network availability.

Delivering next-generation security for virtual and cloud environments
HP provides full security policy consistency, control and inspection while migrating from physical to virtual with HP TippingPoint vController. The most comprehensive security solution across both physical and virtual environments, the seamlessly integrated VMware vCenterâ„¢ Server and vShield 5 with HP TippingPoint Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) offers clients:

  • Consistent security practices across virtual and cloud environments.
  • Comprehensive protection with automated security policy enforcement that "follows" VMs as they are created, moved or changed.

As Strategic Design Partners, HP TippingPoint and VMware are co-developing next-generation security solutions to deliver pervasive security in the cloud with unified management and automated scanning for identifying and blocking potential threats.

These solutions are part of the HP FlexNetwork architecture, a core component of the HP Converged Infrastructure. The industry's only unified architecture for the data center, campus and branch office, the HP FlexNetwork ensures that industry-standard protocols are consistently implemented across networked devices, enabling clients to harness the power of media-rich content, virtualization, mobility and cloud computing.
